Current Lane Closures in Broward County

November 28 through December 5, 2014

Broward County — Construction and maintenance-related lane closures on state highways in Broward County are expected during the week of May 30 through June 6, according to the Florida Department of Transportation. I-95 from the Golden Glades in Miami-Dade County to Broward Boulevard in Broward

Restrictions:

  • Up to three northbound lanes on I-95, from the Golden Glades Interchange in
    Miami-Dade County to Sunrise Boulevard in Broward County, will be closed
    Sunday through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. and from 11 p.m. Friday to
    noon Saturday. At least two lanes will remain open at all times. Entrance and exit
    ramps will be closed as needed in the work zone. Detours will be clearly marked
    and electronic signs will advise drivers in advance.
  • Up to three southbound lanes on I-95, from Sunrise Boulevard in Broward County
    to the Golden Glades Interchange in Miami-Dade County, will be closed Sunday
    through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. and from 11 p.m. Friday to noon
    Saturday. At least two lanes will remain open at all times. Entrance and exit ramps
    will be closed as needed in the work zone. Detours will be clearly marked and
    electronic signs will advise drivers in advance.
  • All southbound lanes of I-95 at Stirling Road will be closed and traffic will be
    detoured Wednesday, December 3 between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. for the installation of
    a new toll gantry. The southbound entrance ramp to I-95 from Stirling Road will
    also be closed. The alternate date for these closures is Thursday, December 4. The
    following detours will be in place:

  • Drivers going south on I-95 who want to continue going south should exit at
    Stirling Road, go east to U.S. 1/Federal Highway, south to Sheridan Street
    and west to the southbound I-95 entrance ramp.
  • Driving who want to go south on I-95 from Stirling Road should take U.S.
    1/Federal Highway to Sheridan Street and go west to the southbound I-95
    entrance ramp.

  • All westbound lanes of Pembroke Road will be closed and traffic will be detoured
    from 11 p.m. Tuesday, December 2 to 5 a.m. Wednesday, December 3 to install
    beams on the I-95 overpass. The following detours will be in place:

  • Drivers east of I-95 who want to go west on Pembroke Road should go north
    on U.S. 1/Federal Highway to Hollywood Boulevard, west on Hollywood
    Boulevard to SR 7/U.S. 441 and south on SR 7 to Pembroke Road.
  • Drivers going north on I-95 who want to go west on Pembroke Road should
    continue north to Hollywood Boulevard, go west on Hollywood Boulevard
    to SR 7/U.S. 441 and south on SR 7 to Pembroke Road.

  • All eastbound lanes of Pembroke Road will be closed and traffic will be detoured
    from 11 p.m. Wednesday, December 3 to 5 a.m. Thursday, December 4 to install
    beams on the I-95 overpass. The following detours will be in place:

  • Drivers west of I-95 who want to go east on Pembroke Road should go north
    on SR 7/U.S. 441 to Hollywood Boulevard, go east on Hollywood
    Boulevard to U.S. 1/Federal Highway and south on U.S. 1 to Pembroke
    Road.

  • Drivers going south on I-95 who want to go east on Pembroke Road should
    exit at Hollywood Boulevard, go east on Hollywood Boulevard to U.S.
    1/Federal Highway and south on U.S. 1 to Pembroke Road.

I-75 from NW 170th Street in Miami-Dade County to I-595 in Broward County

Restrictions:

  • One lane in each direction of I-75 from Griffin Road to Indian Trace may be closed
    Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for road survey and construction
    work.

  • One northbound lane of I-75 from SW 148th Avenue to eastbound SR 84 may be
    closed Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. for road work and tree
    relocation for sound wall construction. A flag crew will direct traffic.

  • One northbound lane of I-75 from south of Griffin Road to north of Griffin Road may
    be closed Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. for construction.

  • Northbound and southbound inside shoulders of I-75 from south of Sheridan Street to north of Griffin Road may be closed Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. for median work.

  • One northbound lane of I-75 from north of Miramar Parkway to Pines Boulevard may
    be closed Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for bridge construction.

  • One southbound lane of I-75 from north of Pines Boulevard to north of Miramar
    Parkway may be closed Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. for
    bridge construction.

  • One northbound lane of I-75 from south of Miramar Parkway to Miramar Parkway
    may be closed Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for bridge
    construction.

  • One southbound lane of I-75 from north of Miramar Parkway to Miramar Parkway
    may be closed Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. for bridge
    construction.

  • One southbound lane of I-75 from south of Miramar Parkway to Florida’s Turnpike
    may be closed overnight Monday through Thursday between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. for
    testing activities.

Eller Drive east of the I-595/US 1 interchange at Port Everglades

Restrictions:

  • Intermittent lanes may be closed in either direction within the project limits
    Monday through Friday at all times.

  • One eastbound lane of I-595 entering Port Everglades will be closed as needed
    Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

  • Northbound access to the intersection of Eller Drive and NE 7th Avenue will be
    closed as needed overnight Monday through Friday between 6:30 p.m. to 5:30
    a.m. for overhead bridge work. During the closure, northbound motorists on NE
    7th Avenue will be detoured east to McIntosh Road where they can make a U-turn
    to westbound Eller Drive toward westbound I-595, U.S. 1, or Fort Lauderdale-
    Hollywood International Airport.

  • Two eastbound lanes of the new overpass from I-595 and U.S. 1 over Eller
    Drive and the Port Everglades railroad will open to traffic Sunday, November
    23. The ramp will lead motorists directly into Port Everglades.

  • Eastbound traffic on Eller Drive to the port will be detoured to the new overpass
    via southbound NE 7th Avenue, westbound NE 10th Street and northbound U.S.1.
    Motorists should stay in the right lane on U.S. 1 to take the ramp to the new
    overpass. The detour will remain in place through mid-December while crews
    work to open the westbound lanes of the overpass.

Bridges of the Isles and Sunrise Key Bridges Replacement in Fort Lauderdale

Restrictions:

  • One lane of the Fiesta Way Bridge is closed through late 2014. A traffic signal and
    flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

  • One lane of the Nurmi Drive Bridge is closed through late 2014. A traffic signal
    and flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

  • One lane of the Royal Palm Bridge will be closed intermittently Monday through
    Friday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work
    zone.

  • One lane of the Isle of Venice Bridge will be closed intermittently Monday
    through Friday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Flaggers will direct motorists through
    the work zone.

  • One lane of the Sunrise Key Boulevard Bridge will be closed intermittently
    Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Flaggers will direct motorists
    through the work zone.

  • One westbound lane of Las Olas Boulevard from Nurmi Drive to Fiesta Way will
    be closed Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.

I-95 Bridge Painting and Rehabilitation over the South Fork of the New River in Fort Lauderdale

Restrictions:

  • All lanes are open through December 5.

Kingfisher Waterway Bridge Replacement in Lighthouse Point

Restrictions:

  • The bridge is closed to all traffic through the fall 2014. Southbound traffic is
    detoured to NE 21st Avenue via NE 33rd Street and then back to NE 23rd Avenue
    via NE 30th Court. Northbound traffic is detoured to NE 21st Avenue via NE 31st
    Street and then back to NE 23rd Avenue via NE 34th Street.

CSX Bridge Replacement over the South Fork of the New River in Fort Lauderdale

Restrictions:

  • Outside shoulder of the westbound I-595 exit ramp to northbound I-95 will be
    closed through October 2015.

 

Andrews Avenue Extension Reconstruction in Pompano Beach

Restrictions:

  • One lane in each direction of Andrews Avenue from NW 18th Street to Park
    Central Boulevard will be closed intermittently Monday through Sunday between
    9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

  • One eastbound lane of Copans Road from NW 15th Avenue to the CSX Railway
    will be closed intermittently Monday through Sunday between 9 a.m. and 3:30
    p.m.

  • One eastbound lane of Copans Road from NW 15th Avenue to the CSX Railway
    will be closed intermittently overnight Sunday through Thursday between 9 p.m.
    and 5:30 a.m.

Sheridan Street from CSX Railroad to North 26th Avenue

Restrictions:

  • One lane in each direction of Sheridan Street from the CSX Railway to North 26th
    Avenue will be closed Monday through Wednesday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Sunrise Boulevard Bridge over the Middle River

Restrictions:

  • The sidewalk along both sides of the Sunrise Boulevard Middle River Bridge from NE 20th Avenue to Middle River Drive is closed through summer 2015. Pedestrians can use the sidewalk along the north side of the temporary bridge.

  • One of the two left turn lanes from northbound Middle River Drive to westbound Sunrise Boulevard is closed through early 2016.

  • One westbound lane of Sunrise Boulevard from Middle River Drive to NE 20th Avenue is closed through early 2016. Two lanes are open for westbound traffic on the temporary bridge for the duration of the construction project.

  • Left turns from westbound Sunrise Boulevard to southbound NE 20th Avenue are permitted from the left westbound through lane through early 2015.

  • One eastbound lane of Sunrise Boulevard from U.S. 1 to Middle River Drive is closed through early 2016. Two lanes are open for eastbound traffic on the north side of the existing bridge through spring 2015.


Dixie Highway Roadway Improvements Project from McNab Road to NE 26 Street in Pompano Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Oakland Park, and Wilton Manors

Restrictions:

  • One northbound lane of Dixie Highway on the bridge over the North Fork Middle
    River Canal is closed for the duration of the project. This closure is necessary to
    remove and reconstruct the bridge concrete barrier wall and install the new
    pedestrian/bicycle railing.

  • One northbound lane of Dixie Highway from Oakland Park Boulevard to
    Commercial Boulevard will be closed overnight Sunday through Wednesday
    between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.

  • One northbound lane of Dixie Highway from Commercial Boulevard to McNab
    Road will be closed overnight Sunday through Wednesday between 9 p.m. and 5
    a.m.

I-595 Bridges Fender System Replacement Project over the South Fork of the New River in Fort Lauderdale

Restrictions:

  • Minimal impact to motorists is expected during construction. The contractor does
    not anticipate any construction-related lane closures.

  • The horizontal clearance within the channel will be reduced from 40 feet to 30 feet
    while crews are working Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.
    With a 45 minute notice, the barge may be moved to restore the 40 foot clearance.

SR 84 at I-95 Drainage Pond Restoration Project in Fort Lauderdale

Restrictions:

  • All lanes are open through December 5.

 

West Lake Park Pedestrian Improvements in Hollywood

Restrictions:

  • All lanes are open through December 5.

 

A1A Reconstruction Project in Fort Lauderdale

Restrictions:

  • One lane in each direction of A1A from Sunrise Boulevard to NE 14th Street is
    closed through late 2014. One lane in each direction will remain open.

  • Both lanes of traffic along A1A from NE 14th Street to NE 18th Street are shifted
    east through late 2014 as crews work on the west side of the road. One lane in
    each direction will remain open.

  • On-street parking along A1A within the project limits has been eliminated during
    construction.

  • The speed limit is reduced to 25 MPH through this construction zone.

Commercial Boulevard Roadway Improvements Project in Tamarac

Restrictions:

  • One lane in each direction of Commercial Boulevard from west of White Oak
    Lane to east of NW 49th Avenue will be closed intermittently Monday through
    Friday.

  • No lane closures on eastbound Commercial Boulevard are permitted between 6:30
    a.m. and 9:30 a.m.

  • No lane closures on westbound Commercial Boulevard are permitted between 3
    p.m. and 8 p.m.

 

SR 7 / US 441 at Griffin Road Intersections Improvements Projects Information in Hollywood and Dania Beach

Restrictions:

  • Two lanes in each direction of SR 7 / U.S. 441 at Seminole Way will be closed
    Monday through Wednesday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

  • One eastbound lane of Griffin Road from SW 33rd Avenue to SW 32nd Avenue
    will be closed Monday through Wednesday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

  • One lane in each direction of SR 7 / U.S. 441 at Griffin Road will be closed
    Monday through Wednesday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.


Sheridan Street from the Intracoastal Waterway Bridge to A1A in Hollywood

Restrictions:

  • One lane in each direction of Sheridan Street from the Intracoastal Waterway to
    A1A will be closed Monday through Wednesday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

  • One lane in each direction of A1A at Sheridan Street will be closed Monday
    through Wednesday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

  • One lane in each direction of Sheridan Street from the Intracoastal Waterway to
    A1A will be closed overnight Sunday through Tuesday between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.
    Flag crews will direct motorists through the work zone.

 

Hillsboro Boulevard from west of Natura Boulevard to west of Dixie Highway in Deerfield Beach

Restrictions:

  • One lane in each direction of Hillsboro Boulevard will be closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

 

Mast Arm Painting in Pompano Beach and Fort Lauderdale

Restrictions:

  • One lane in each direction of A1A north of Atlantic Boulevard will be closed
    overnight Sunday through Friday between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

 

A1A from Iris Terrace to Greenbrier Terrace Drainage Improvements Project in Hollywood

Restrictions:

  • Up to two northbound lanes of A1A at Iris Terrace will be closed through Friday, November 21.


Drainage Improvements Project in Fort Lauderdale and Lauderhill

Restrictions:

  • One lane in each direction of Commercial Boulevard from U.S. 1 to Bayview
    Drive will be closed overnight Monday through Thursday between 8 p.m. and 5
    a.m.

  • One lane in each direction of Commercial Boulevard from U.S. 1 to Bayview
    Drive will be closed intermittently Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3
    p.m.

Intersection Improvements Project at State Road A1A south of NE 7th Avenue in
Pompano Beach

Restrictions:

  • All lanes are open through December 5.

Powerline Road Improvements Project in Deerfield Beach

Restrictions:

  • One lane in each direction of Powerline Road from north of West Drive to the
    Palm Beach County line will be closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m.
    and 5 p.m.


A1A from Seacrest Parkway to the County Line Improvements Project in Hallandale Beach and Hollywood

Restrictions:

  • One lane in each direction of A1A from Seacrest Parkway to the Miami-Dade County
    Line will be closed Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Current Maintenance, Utility and Permit Closures

US 1 near Port Everglades & Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport

  • All northbound and southbound lanes of U.S. 1 are shifted to the east from Griffin Road to the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport interchange for construction of the new runway through late 2014.

  • One northbound and one southbound lane of U.S. 1 are closed at the I-595
    interchange for construction at the airport through late 2014.

  • One westbound lane of Broward Boulevard at NW 3rd Avenue will be closed daily

    Thursday, December 4 between 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.
