Current Construction Lane Closures in Indian River County

State Road A1A Hurricane Matthew Restoration Project

Restrictions:

  • The speed limit from approximately 2.3 miles south of the Sebastian Inlet northerly 1 mile on State Road A1A has been temporarily reduced from 50 MPH to 40 MPH. This speed limit reduction will be in place through the end of the project.

  • The southbound lane of State Road A1A will be closed intermittently Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Nov. 2020 for clearing and grubbing, sidewalk work and seawall construction. Two-way traffic will be maintained by temporary traffic signals.

  • The sidewalk on the west side of State Road A1A on the northern end of the project is closed through Nov. 2020 to facilitate installation of the sheet pile wall. Pedestrians should use the temporary path installed on the east side of State Road A1A, crossing at the temporary crosswalks. 17th Street Bridge Hurricane Irma Lighting Repair Project

Restrictions:

  • One inside lane in each direction of the 17th Street Bridge will be closed Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for light pole replacement work.

  • One inside lane in each direction of 17th Street from west of 5th Avenue to the center of the 17th Street Bridge will be closed Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for center concrete median removal in preparation for the traffic diversion.

  • Advance Notice: Starting Monday, Nov. 2, eastbound and westbound traffic on the 17th Street Bridge will be down to one lane in each direction around the clock through spring 2021 for bridge beam repairs. On Nov. 2, westbound traffic on 17thStreet Bridge will be diverted to the eastbound travel lane through Feb. 2021. State Road A1A Shoulder Widening and Resurfacing Project

Restrictions:

  • Along State Road A1A from north of 46th Place to south of Coco Plum Lane the speed limit has been permanently reduced from 50 MPH to 45 MPH. During construction, the speed limit is temporarily reduced from 45 MPH to 35 MPH.

  • The southbound lane of State Road A1A from 46th Place to Pebble Path will be intermittently Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday through Thursday night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving. Two-way traffic will be maintained by a flag crew.

  • The southbound bike lane is closed to facilitate shoulder widening construction. During this time, cyclists & motorists should share the road. For more information, please contact Community Outreach Specialist Kathleen Dempsey at 772-359-5118.


State Road 60 from 46th Avenue to 37th Avenue in Vero Beach

Restrictions:

  • Two eastbound lanes of State Road 60 will be closed Sunday through Thursday night from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. for utility work. For more information, please contact Steve Jungjohan at 772-882-5084.


State Road 60 just East of 43rd Avenue in Vero Beach

Restrictions:

  • Full Closure: All eastbound lanes of State Road 60 just east of 43rd Avenue will undergo full nighttime closures Tuesday night, Oct. 27 through Thursday night, Oct. 29 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. to replace a watermain. Motorists heading east on State Road 60 can either head north of south on 43rd Avenue and follow the respective detour:

    • South Detour: Turn south on 43rd Avenue, east on 16th Street, then north on 27th Avenue.

      North Detour: Turn north on 43rd Avenue, east on Aviation Boulevard, then south on 27th Avenue. For more information, please contact Matthew Kirkland at 813-716-6339.

    • Advance Notice / Full Closure: All westbound lanes of State Road 60 just east of 43rd Avenue will undergo full nighttime closures Sunday night, Nov. 1 and Monday night, Nov. 2 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. to replace a watermain. Motorists heading west on State Road 60 should turn north on 27th Avenue, west on Aviation Boulevard, and south on 43rd Avenue.
