Two northbound and two southbound lanes are now open on U.S. 1. The inside
median and turn lanes will remain closed until approximately Friday, September 18.

There will be intermittent lane closures on northbound and southbound U.S. 1, 8 a.m. until 4
p.m., Monday, September 14, through Friday, September 18, for median repairs.

There will be intermittent closures of northbound and southbound U.S. 1, nightly from 8 p.m.
until 6 a.m., Monday, September 14, through Wednesday, September 16, for final paving
operations. One lane in each direction will remain open at all times. The driveways on S.R. A1A (Jack Nicklaus Drive) will also be paved at this time. One lane will remain open at all times. Flaggers will be on-site to assist motorists. Motorists should anticipate delays.

All businesses on U.S. 1 are open and accessible.

Two northbound and two southbound lanes are now open on U.S. 1.  The inside median and turn lanes will remain closed. 

There will be intermittent closures to the inside travel lanes of northbound and southbound U.S.  1, 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., Tuesday, September 8, through Sunday, September 13. This operation will open the northbound left turn lane into Limoncello, the southbound left turn lane into Oakbrook Square and all left turn lanes from Oakbrook Square onto southbound U.S. 1.

There will be one lane closed in each direction on northbound and southbound U.S. 1, 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday, September 14, through Thursday, September 17, for final paving operations.  The driveways on S.R. A1A (Jack Nicklaus Drive) will also be paved at this time. One lane will remain open at all times.  Flaggers will be on-site to assist motorists. Motorists should anticipate delays.

All businesses on U.S. 1 are open and accessible.

There will be intermittent closures to the inside and outside travel lanes of both northbound and southbound U.S. 1, on Monday, August 31 and Tuesday, September 1, for paving operations and roadway repairs.  One lane will remain open at all times.  Flaggers will be on-site to assist motorists.

There be intermittent closures to the driveways on S.R. A1A (Jack Nicklaus Drive); Hidden Key, Oakbrook Square’s Delivery Driveway and Oakbrook Square’s west entrance and to the left turn lanes onto northbound U.S. 1 at the intersection of PGA Boulevard / S.R. A1A (Jack Nicklaus Drive) on Monday, August 31, for paving operations.  One lane will remain open at all times.  Flaggers will be on-site to assist motorists.

Two northbound and two southbound lanes will be open on U.S. 1, Wednesday, September 2 or Thursday, September 3.  The inside median and turn lanes will remain closed.

The entrance to Citi Bank off southbound U.S. 1 (Smith Drive) is now open. All businesses alongsouthbound U.S. 1 are open. All southbound travel lanes on U.S. 1, just north of S.R. A1A (Jack Nicklaus Drive) / PGA Boulevard, will be closed from 8 p.m., Sunday, August 2 until 6 a.m., Monday, August 3, for drainage work. Southbound motorists will be detoured westbound along Holman Road, just north of the Melting Pot Plaza, onto southbound Ellison Wilson Road, eastbound to PGA Boulevard and back onto southbound U.S. 1.

Northbound U.S. 1 will be unaffected. There will be no restrictions for motorists at the intersection of U.S. 1 and S.R. A1A (Jack Nicklaus Drive) / PGA Boulevard. Southbound motorists trying to access businesses on the northbound (east) side of U.S. 1 are encouraged to take the approved detour route and travel northbound on U.S. 1. Self Storage, Car Sales of the Palm Beaches / U-haul, Limoncello, Oaktree Plaza, Smith Drive, Universal Pottery and Citi Bank, will be inaccessible during this time. The detour route will be marked with appropriate signage. If the work cannot be completed on this night, the work and
closure will be rescheduled for the evening of Monday, August 4.

Phase Three, which includes all project-related work scheduled for the southbound side of the road, is expected to last until fall 2009, weather permitting. The driveway to Car Sales of the Palm Beaches / U-Haul will be closed from 4 a.m. until 8 a.m., Tuesday, July 21 and Wednesday, July 22, and the driveway to Self Storage will be closed from 4 a.m. until 8 a.m., Thursday, July 23 and Friday, July 24, for drainage work.  Motorists will not be able to enter or exit these driveways during these times.  These driveways will re-open during business hours.

Only one lane will serve southbound through traffic as well as motorists who want to turn right onto PGA Boulevard / S.R. A1A (Jack Nicklaus Drive), left turns are Friday, July 10, 2009 not be permitted. All business accesses on northbound and southbound U.S. 1 will be open, excluding Citi Bank, (Bomar Drive) located at the northwest corner of PGA Boulevard / S.R. A1A (Jack Nicklaus) and U.S. 1. Motorists will be asked to enter / exit Citi Bank from the driveways located on PGA Boulevard.

The outside left turn lane from eastbound PGA Boulevard onto northbound U.S. 1 and the northbound through lane on U.S. 1 at the intersection of PGA Boulevard / S.R. A1A (Jack Nicklaus Drive) are closed. Northbound motorists will be shifted to the outside right turn lane, which will serve as a through / right turn lane. Northbound left turn lanes onto westbound PGA Boulevard will be unaffected.

The Oakbrook Square entrances off northbound U.S. 1 are now open. Motorists are still unable to travel southbound on U.S. 1 as they leave Oakbrook Square; only right hand turns are permitted.

The traffic shift from Phase 3A to Phase 3B is anticipated to take place nightly, 7 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday, July 12, through Tuesday, July 14, weather and unforeseen delays permitting. Phase 3B will open two northbound travel lanes and all directional turn lanes and through lanes at the intersection of U.S. 1 and PGA Boulevard / S.R. A1A (Jack Nicklaus Drive). One southbound through lane and all directional turn lanes on southbound U.S. 1 will be open.

The following driveways will need to be closed to install underground drainage pipe. Dates are pending, however it will not be until sometime on or after July 20; Limoncello Italian Restaurant, Car Sales of the Palm Beaches / U-haul, and Self Storage. These closures will be coordinated directly with the business owner(s) and will take place during non-business hours.

From 9 p.m. until 5 a.m., nightly, Sunday, July 5, through Tuesday, July 7, the driveway to Oaktree Plaza will be closed all motorists. Motorists will be directed to use Smith Drive, just south of the Oaktree Plaza driveway. This driveway will be reopened during non-working hours. The following driveway closure dates are pending, however it will not be until sometime after July 13; Limoncello Italian Restaurant , Car Sales of the Palm Beaches / U-haul and Self Storage.

Phase 3B will open two northbound travel lanes and all directional turn lanes and through lanes at the intersection of U.S. 1 and PGA Boulevard / S.R. A1A (Jack Nicklaus Drive). One southbound
through lane and all directional turn lanes will be open.

During the week of July 20, Seacoast Utility Authority is anticipating to close southbound U.S.1, for two to three nights, weather permitting. Weather permitting, this closure is anticipated to last two full days, however, the driveway will be reopened as soon as the work is completed. Electronic message boards will alert motorists of the alternate route.

This 0.18 mile drainage improvement project in the City of Palm Beach Gardens began on January 12, 2009. This project includes installing new storm water drainage outside of the roadway; repaving; utility work and the installation of French drainage. This project will be constructed in phases to minimize impacts to the public.   This $2.19 million project is being performed by Ranger Construction Industries and is expected to be complete late October 2009

Beginning at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 7, contractors will begin installing barrier wall to prepare for a traffic shift that will begin at 7 a.m., Wednesday, March 8. The shift will close all northbound lanes of U.S. 1 at S.R. A1A / PGA Boulevard (Jack Nicklaus Drive), and move northbound traffic over to the southbound side of the road to begin Phase Two. The inside left turn lane of southbound U.S. 1 onto S.R. A1A/ PGA Boulevard (Jack Nicklaus Drive) and the outside left turn lane of eastbound PGA Boulevard onto northbound U.S. 1 will also be closed. There will be one lane open in each direction through the work zone for the duration of this phase, which will last approximately three months, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.

A1A/PGA Boulevard and the delivery access is scheduled from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., Monday, March 2, and Tuesday, March 3. There will be alternating lane closures to each of the driveways. A flagger will be on site to direct traffic. Driveways will reopen during non-working hours.

Motorists are being asked to use the Oakbrook Square entrances off S.R. A1A/ PGA Boulevard or U.S. 1.  The driveway will be reopened during non-working hours.

*The contractor anticipates each location taking two nights to complete. However, if they finish a drainage crossing at any location in one night, they will move to the following location the next night.

PROJECT PROGRESS

This week the contractor expects to finish installing the new sidewalk along the north side of State Road A1A / PGA Boulevard (Jack Nicklaus Drive).  They will also begin installing landscaping and sod along the route, as Phase One of the project comes to an end.  The final paving operations in the Phase One area will not take place until October 2009.  
 
The contractor began preliminary work for Phase Two of construction, Monday, February 23.  The concrete median was removed and the area is now paved to get ready for the future traffic shift.
 
Phase Two includes all project-related work scheduled for the northbound side of the road.  During this phase, northbound lanes will be closed completely and all northbound traffic will be shifted on one lane on the southbound side of U.S. 1. The inside left turn lane of southbound U.S. 1 onto eastbound S.R. A1A/ PGA Boulevard (Jack Nicklaus Drive) and the outside left turn lane of eastbound PGA Boulevard onto northbound U.S. 1 will be closed during this phase, which will last approximately three months, weather permitting.

The Oakbrook Square entrance off northbound U.S. 1 will be closed during this phase of construction.  Motorists will be asked to enter the plaza through the two northern entrances on U.S. 1 or on S.R. A1A/ PGA Boulevard (Jack Nicklaus Drive).

Electronic message boards have been placed on northbound and southbound U. S. 1 and S.R. A1A / PGA Boulevard (Jack Nicklaus Drive) to provide advance warning to motorists.  Motorists should anticipate delays when traveling through this area and should use caution.

This week the contractor will continue installing drainage pipe and running dewatering pumps. Dewatering will keep the trenches dry as the contractor continues to excavate and install drainage pipe.  

Beginning on Monday, February 9, 2009, the contractor will begin installing Phase One drainage pipe along S.R. A1A/ PGA Boulevard (Jack Nicklaus Drive). In order to perform this work safely, it will be necessary to close driveways temporarily at Hidden Key, Oakbrook Square delivery access and Oakbrook Square’s west entrance off S.R. A1A/ PGA Boulevard. Closures are scheduled as follows: (Please note that this schedule is tentative and is subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.)

Pedestrian paths have been relocated to the south. The delivery access to Oakbrook Square is now open.
 
Beginning on Sunday, January 25, the contractor will begin dewatering their work site.  This will keep the trenches dry as the contractor begins to excavate and install pipe.  
 
On Wednesday, January 28, Seacoast will begin to relocate their water main and force main.
