Project Purpose: To provide mobility improvements along the corridor to enhance pedestrian and bicycle safety and improve multimodal connectivity.
Scope of Work:
- Segment 1 - North of Pembroke Road to Pines Boulevard: Widen the roadway to provide three 11-foot travel lanes in each direction with a 10-foot shared use path on the west side and a 7-foot buffered bicycle lane on the east side
- Segment 2 - Pines Boulevard to north of Johnson Street: Widen the roadway to provide three 11-foot travel lanes with a 10-foot shared use path in each direction
- Upgrade the existing drainage system and restore canal cross section
- Upgrade the curb ramps to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards
- Upgrade deficient signs and pavement markings
- Replace the existing corridor lighting with Light Emitting Diode (LED) light fixtures
- Replace the existing traffic signals with new mast arm signals at Airport Road, French Drive, and Johnson Street intersections
- Upgrade the existing pedestrian signals at all the signalized intersections
Construction Impacts:
- Work will be done in phases to reduce the effects of construction on the community
- Lane closures will be required for construction activities
- At least two lanes will be maintained in each direction
- Access to businesses and residences will be maintained
