Southbound Utopia Drive from Miramar Boulevard to La Salle Boulevard may have one lane closed daily, as needed, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday through Friday for pedestrian bridge ramp construction operations over the South Broward Drainage District (SBDD) Canal No.1. Traffic will be detoured via Tarpon Drive and La Salle Boulevard. Access to local roads and residential properties will be maintained.

Ramp Impact:

One turn lane from the Florida Turnpike to northbound University Drive will be temporarily closed through early 2024.

One lane of the Florida Turnpike westbound on-ramp from University Drive may be closed 10:30 p.m. until 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday for paving operations. 24.

SR 5/US 1/Federal Highway Mobility Improvement Project in Hollywood

Description: Project improvements include milling and resurfacing along the project limits, modifying pavement markings along SR 5/US 1/Federal Highway to accommodate 4-foot bicycle lanes in each direction, installing 138 new light poles and upgrading existing lighting to LED along the corridor, replacing concrete sidewalk with pavers from Monroe Street to Van Buren Street and from Polk Street to Fillmore Street, removing existing pavers at the signalized intersections between Van Buren Street and SR-824/Pembroke Road, and installing decorative stamped asphalt crosswalks at all signalized intersections. Queue Detection System Pilot Project

Description: Project improvements include: testing of detectors and closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras to identify vehicular queues near railroad crossings to be able to transmit messages to connected vehicles and warn drivers about potential conflicts. The project aims to test smart technologies to help improve safety for all roadway users near railroad crossings. The CCTV cameras will be used to verify the vehicular detector is operating as intended and provide additional coverage at the four proposed locations to aid incident management at these locations. This system will additionally enhance the existing ‘DO NOT STOP ON TRACKS’ flashing beacons at the crossings.
